Therefore, lacking in posting lately. For that, I appologize....
SO, SOC is this weekend, and I'm sad to say I'll be missing it this year. And to think I've got family right there in the 'burbs of Detroit. Perfect place to shack-up, alas it's not to be. All work, no play is making this Prez a very dull boy this year...
Anyhoo, other events coming up include Classics on the James in September, and as Tweek mentions, the Saabtoberfest in Wilkes-Barre. I've been a number of times, but it's been a couple of years. We'll see if I can make that one.
Classics on the James is an easy one for me -- about an hour and a half from my house right there in downtown Richmond. Who else is interested? If so, you MUST pre-register for the car show. This year's featured marque is Ferrari. If nothing else, lots of very cool cars there.
Another note: I've recieved a note from Randy Moss, owner and operator of Collector Car Corral. He has invited the club to hold an event at his facility.
From Randy: "Collector Car Corral is a climate controlled and secure storage facility for cars, motorcycles, and trailers, located in Owings Mills MD.
We also feature a professional detailing center as well as a clubhouse for our automotive country club.
The clubhouse features an automotive themed lounge, conference room and library, and game room with racing simulators.
Our clubhouse has been used to host club meetings and private functions for other automotive clubs in the area including the Antique Automobile Club of America, Nissan Z, Porsche, and BMW motorcycle clubs.
The Collectors Car Corral has been featured on the front cover of the Baltimore Business Journal and has also been featured in articles in Style Magazine, the Washington Post, and WashTrends, the trade magazine for the Mid-Atlantic Carwash Association.
I would like to invite the Washington DC SAAB Club to come for an open house and tour of our facility."
Let me know if you all would be interested and we'll set a date to tour his place.
And last, but certainly not least, I've stumbled upon one of those "for-sale-by-the-side-of-the-road" cars you see while driving through the countryside. Just fortunate to live here in the sticks to find it: A 1974 Sonett III with Soccer-Ball wheels. Not in the best of shape, with rusting rockers, but the body and glass is all good. No idea about the engine. Tempting. Just need to sell the idea on the home front... ;-)
That's it for now. More to come!
