First I'll say that I enjoyed this movie. This is Quentin T. as Artiste. I'm sure this film will be used in many a future film class as example of this or that. The use of color, action, inaction, sound, contrast, etc is brilliant. That said, this film requires a pretty good dose of patience. While there is a good bit of stunning action ala The Matrix and Crouching Tiger, it does have the long slow meaningful glances that become a little tiring towards the end of the movie. I don't think we could have watched another overmatched Moon vs Hero fight again, or since the fight scenes were so good, maybe that's just what we needed.
I'm glad I saw it on a big screen. But, if you have a nice TV screen, you'll get 90% of the visual too so it could be a rental too...
No Saabs in this one... No cars at all.
