...and yes I do live in Texas today, but that doesn't matter...
When I lived where it snowed like crazy all the time and I was equally nuts about maintaining my cars I would use an ice scraper and/or a brush freely on windows, lights, and bumpers (plastic and rubber parts). If the snow was high enough that it needed to be brushed off the roof or hood I would use the brush about .5 to 1 inch off the surface and brush it off so that I wasn't hitting the surface. The rest would blow off or melt as the car was driven.
I am sure I brushed the actual surface a number of times and as rouch as that brush may seem it probably won't do much a good wax couldn't handle or fix.
