Ok, so I'm thinking that today would be a perfect day to wash the car and take a crack at it with the P21s cleaner and wax. After the wash and dry I start with the cleaner on the hood. I had to do a couple of applications (1/2 hood at a time) but eventually the streaks were buffing out, the hood was noticibly smoother and the reflection was almost haze free.

I decided to hit the hood with wax before doing the rest of the car, just to see how the whole thing looked. I applied the wax to 1/2 the hood with the applicator, but the hood just felt rough as I was buffing it. I thought maybe I'd let it dry too long, so I applied a bit more and immediately started buffing it. That worked a little better, but the wax seemed to build up at the ends of my buff-strokes and leave the surface rough again. After about an hour of working on the hood I bailed on the wax, went over the surface again with the cleaner to get it smooth and called it a day.

What's up with this wax? Could I have done something wrong? I never had any problems with the Mother's 3-step system. The ambient temp was about 80F, I was working in the shade, and the hood was cool to the touch.
