I live in Upstate NY as well. I plumbed hot water to my hose faucet. I teed in to the cold water line just before it exited the house. You also need to have valves on each line to adjust the temp, and one-way check valves on each line to keep hot water out of the cold line and visa-versa. Roll up the hose while its still hot and bring it inside to keep it from freezing.
As far as drying the car goes I have one of those Mr. Clean car wash gizmos. I don't use it to wash the car, I still do that by hand. I just use it to rinse the car because it has a special replaceable filter in it to take impurities out of the tap water. It is supposed to make the car dry without water spots. I still dry bay hand though. I use two chamois. One is a synthetic microfiber that is very absorbant. The other is an 18" square piece of heavy suede I picked up about 20 years ago. The microfiber towel will leave faint water streaks on the car. Go over the car with the suede afterwards and the car will shine twice as much. As you rub the fine streaks off you'll notice that the suede starts to slide easily over the surface. Proof that the microfiber has left residue on the car that you have just wiped away with the suede. I own a black car. It is 26 years old and the paint shines like new. I often get compliments on the finish. People can't believe it is the original paint.
