the Aztek is actually a very good vehicle. I don't care for the looks much, and the interior could use some better seats, but the higher end models have good pickup. They also handle quite well, and ride smoothly. And AWD is an option too.
Combined with the utilitarian aspects, anyone looking for a comfortable, multi-use vehicle (people like myself who have a dog, and like camping and mountain biking for example) could do well with one. And since everyone seems to hate them, you could probably work out a great deal.
Just to keep an open mind, when I went shopping for my current vehicle ('02 Aero wagon) I also test drove an Aztek, and an Envoy. Although the Saab is clearly superior to both vehicles, it was also twice the price. And, having driven both the Aztek and the Envoy- if Saab were to make an SUV based on one of these, the Aztek is the clear choice IMO. If Saab tweaked the styling and interior of the Aztek it would probably be a decent "tall wagon" and they could price it well below what they'd have to ask for an Envoy based version
My two cents (>1.4 cents USD and rising!)
