Info from Aero Academy on JD Power Results (longish)
Posted by TimD (more from TimD) on Wed, 14 May 2003 09:29:29
Just got back from Aero Academy. I won't go into the details about how great it was (others have already done a fine job of that on the 9-5 board) but I did find out some interesting info about the JD Power results.
The first night they have a very nice dinner at the Chateau Elan for all participants. There were three representatives there from Saab USA. The fellow at my table was very knowledgeable and candid. I don't remember his name (too much wine!) but he was in Marketing. I asked about the JD Power results. He said they were disappointed but not surprised. He felt that the main driver was a "rear brake squeal" problem with the early production 9-3SS. It has since been addressed.
Instead of complaining about how unfair the JD Power scoring model is, he said, "Everyone is judged on the same criteria and Lexus wins every year. We have to be better." I give him credit for that.
