I was on a road trip from new york to florida with my cousin and he was driving in the left lane doing about 75 or 80mph when a small truck, explorer or the like came behind and flashed his brights. My cousin started yelling at him and slowed down to piss him off. It took ten minutes to explain that this wasn't rude, people aren't supposed to cruise in the left lane and the driver was merely asking him to move over a lane. The other lanes were pretty empty so he shouldn't have been there anyway. Even automakers design cars to be able to flash to pass. The second generation rx-7 had lenses in the front so that the driver could flash the beams without having to rotate the headlights up.
