somewhat related to your story about Billie Martin. There is a current case somewhere where the family of a girl who was murdered is suing Firestone and Ford (I think both). Turns out that just before the big Firestone recall, this girl was driving her Explorer with Firestone tires and the tire went out. She pulled over to change the tire and a man pulled over to help her. Turns out the guy was a murderer, and he kidnapped her and murdered her. The family contends that their daughter would never have been in that position if not for the faulty tire (the tire was shown to have the same defect as the recalled tires later that year). This was in June I think, and the recall started in August. Scary stuff eh? I am assuming (and hoping ) that the judge throws this one out onto the street as well as out of the courtroom.
