As there is no key to open the trunk on a 9-3SS, and the seatback releases are in the trunk, if your battery goes dead you can get inside the car with the metal key in the "sheath" of the electronic key. As the battery would be dead you can't use the trunk release button on the door, so Saab provides a little oval access plug on the top of the package shelf (don't ever put packages there!) just behind the rear seat on the passenger side. Removing the little oval plastic plug allows access to the release mechanism to gain access to the trunk.
