thankful for GM's intention, ill-suited or not, and that they are more committed than ever to keep the Saab marque alive (although what that marque means is itself a hot debate issue) by continually investing in new products. For that I give GM credit. Far worse is the case where GM ditches Saab altogether and pass it on like a hot potato from one auto giant to the next. Or for Saab to RIP in the 20th century like all the British, German and American marques through the 50s/60s/70s.
Remember that Saab before GM was all too complacent to keep humming along with a single line of C900, then two with 9000, at a time when the Japanese automakers became true global forces by assaulting the SUV, near-luxury and luxury segments. Alliances with brands like Subaru and Opel will be good to inject fresh blood into the Saab lineage.
