If you do travel along this route take a side trip when in Golden BC to ride the Kicking Horse Gondola to the top of the mountiains.
There is a lunch special for $25 CDn that includes a ride up the gondola and a five star lunch. Thers' also one terrific road up to the hill that is newly paved and just ripe foar our SAAB I drove it last weekend in my 95 Aero Wagion and couldn't stop smiling.
If you decide to stay in Golden there's the Prestige inn that is OK for an evening. Golden is about 7 hours East of Vancouver via Kelowna.
I also have a few route suggestions. Look at a map and find Highway 8 East nera Cache Creek and take it. on the same map find Highway 6 near Vernon and try to take that route too, Ther's a free ferrry or two along the road but the roads are much less travelled than the Trans Canada Highway. The TCH is full of trucks and has few passing lanes in many sopts. THe routes that I suggest are more scenic if that's possible and well paved.
I ride my motorcycle alot in BC and can vouch for the roads that I take
Cheers.
