Since the WIS comes with no real instructions it can be frustrating until you discover its quirks.
The green "check mark" button in the lower right corner of the display is required for almost everything. Highlight the title of the general area/specific item you want to investigate, then click the green check mark (if it is displayed).
Service instructions are discovered by highlighting the area/item of interest, then clicking on the tab at the bottom that illustrates someone working under the hood of their car. Similar for tools "wrench", programming "Tech 2", wiring diagram "schematic", etc. Part number feature won't work unless you also have the Electronic Parts Catalog loaded - separate disc costing around $20USD.
There may be a simple registration process you are skipping over. I seem to remember the program wanted my first name, car's VIN, etc, on initial loading. You also have to select 9-5 in the first dialog box, then correct model year in the second dialog box, at every use.
