Hanauma Bay Underwater State Park is a great half-day excursion from Honolulu. Rent snorkle gear and, most importantly, buy a box of frozen peas. I'm not kidding. The shallow water in this drowned volcano attracts a wide variety of beautiful fish. Scatter a few frozen peas while swimming around and wow.... Makes a nice counterpoint to a visit to Pearl Harbor.

On Maui, The Road to Hana is a must, as mentioned. Leave early in the a.m. to allow time to linger at stops along the way. It *is* possible to find your own "private" beach.

If you like coffee, find some fresh roasted Kona. 'Nuff said.
Avoid coral, which will cut you to ribbons before you know it.
Respect the ocean.
Don't OD on pineapple.
Does the world need mesquite flavored macadamia nuts?
