I was working electronics retail at the time, & the store where I was working carried them. I think it was an RCA item, called "Video Disc" (sp?), but I'm not 100% sure. IIRC, you stuck the entire 12" disk & cover into the player, never handling the vinyl disk.
The technology was similar to vinyl records, but I don't know the specifics. It was released around the same time as the 12" LD system as a less-costly alternative but, for obvious wear & picture quality reasons, flopped worse than RCA's last video fiasco (remember those "low-cost alternatives" to DVDs, where you only paid $15 for a limited number of viewings & then tossed the disc? I don't remember what those were called, either ... ).
It came & went so quickly that not many titles were released. You might find some floating around in 2nd-hand stores, like Goodwill & Salvation Army. Maybe misplaced in the vinyl albums section?
