This has happened twice , two different people that I know. A wheel repair shop in , lets say the state that is known for an Amish community and a major chocolate company , here is the scenario: Send in the wheel and we will give you an estimate for repair. Wheel recieved but unrepairable , HOWEVER ,...we do have another already repaired and we can sell you that one for 195.00 .. (VW wheel) ..the other persons experience, a BMW wheel which I think was well over 200 approaching the 300 dollar mark, for a used wheel! Now, I saw the VW wheel, it had a slight bend about 3 inches long along the edge, no Im not an expert but the websites for these shops show amazing repairs of "chunks" of missing aluminum being miraculously replaced and the wheel restored to new condition. I didnt see the BMW wheel before it went out but it too was just a bend not a crack or break etc. Anyway the story continues that in both situations , the repair center said " since this wheel is not repairable, we wont ship it back to you" ..ah huh? I cant help but picture them repairing the unrepairable and then selling it to the next schmo that sends them a wheel. What a plan! I recieved a quote a while ago from this shop, to refinish all four Aero wheels, 100-125 each PENDING that there is " nothing else " wrong with them...needless to say I am extremely hesistant to send anything thier way as Im sure they will discover some mysterious problem with them and sell me a new set for ...oh around 1000.00...hmmmmmm.
