Would much rather have DI than regular ignition Posted by AdamB [Email] (#3) [Profile/Gallery] (more from AdamB) on Sun, 26 Oct 2003 07:32:22 In Reply to: Question for Mr. Lynch, Juan P., Sat, 25 Oct 2003 04:35:02 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
the DI should be considered a wear item just like the parts of a normal ignition. If you look at it that way, the DI problem isn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be. Besides DI has many benefits over a standard ignition system. Much higher spark voltage, much better ignition timing regulation, ionisation sensing through spark plugs etc etc.

'96 9000CS 2.0 "Ex-LPT" which ran 220,000 kms on the original DI with no problems even though the engine has been running with 1.3+ bar boost for 2-3 years and has been driven fairly hard.
