Just now saw this - I am all for Saab returning to Euro-owned roots. Hadn't thought of Peugeot but why not? And didn't GM take a huge loss this year on Fiat? Maybe they'd be happy to ditch this Euro-bizness altogether and make tons o'money on SUVs and whatnot?
Wasn't there a story in Automobile or C&D awhile back with GM's Bob Lutz saying something to the effect of "Saab is gonna fall in line"? I think this was around the time of the 'wonderful' news of the 9-2 Saabaru and 9-7(?) Blaazer. Not to start one of those "purity of heritage" rants here, but would be nice if they were at least Saabs in ways beyond the hood ornament.
Of course, this is just second-hand hearsay and even then my experience with the French has also been fairly pleasant, so I may be unreliable at best and treasonous at worst...
vive' le maintenance!
