I appreciate the comments. The 9-5 was definitely a lot bigger inside and a lot better equipped than anything Japanese I could get for $15,000 with 40-50,000 miles on it.
I am still amazed at the dealer asking $23,000 for a 2000 9-5 V-6 with 44,000 miles. Right down the street at the Indie dealer, the same car with 58,000 miles was $15,750. I could buy a lot of extended warranties for the car and still have money left over.
Speaking of those aftermarket warranties- do they work well? For example, say I buy the Saab from the independent dealer, and also purchase a warranty from him. Will I be able to use this coverage to have the car worked on at the local, highly respected independent Saab mechanic, or will I have to go to a dealership for the coverage to be in effect?
The reason I ask is because I have heard a lot of bad things about the service department at our Saab dealer (Bay Saab in Norfolk), but I have heard raves about an independent garage in the area that specializes in Saabs.
Again, thanks a lot for your input.
