Well, about a week ago, Tivo put some short (like 10 seconds) teasers of a new car racing through a European city. Well, this teaser was VERY much like the Getaway In Stockholm movies. Very cool I thought. The teaser indicated it'd be coming Nov 7.

They put intersting specials and promotional video items at the bottom of the main screen every so often, perhaps based on what you like to watch. I mostly use the Tivo to record things from speed channel, disc wings, history, and other male oriented channels. They've got a good way to target you with cool stuff.

Well, I just watched it. It's a 3 minute ripoff of GIS3, but it's in a new Nissan 350z in Prague. Beatifully mixed music. Starts off in black and white in Prague just before the sun comes up. The car is ripping it smoothly throught the city like we can only dream about. The music builds, the engine sounds and motion are hypnotic. I'm getting emotional and jealous. Really, I started to get tearey eyed. I'm not kidding. The music peaks, the speed peaks. Flashback stills of the car get randomly inserted as stacatto breaks in the motion just like when a cool car goes by, you tend to think about it for a quick moment. It's in full color, and at the end the car spins out at a lookout overlooking the quiet city with a morning sky. Damn, it was beatiful. GIS was raw and cool and irreverant. This was raw and cool, and artful. Then they once again displayed a disclaimer page of small type, and the Nissan Shift logo. No speech at all, no shots of the driver.

I wanted to watch it again a couple more times. I wanted to save it to show my brother, who'd been in Prague last week. It was gone. The damn box only let me watch it once. I'm gonna write Tivo and ask them to make that stuff savable. This 350z dosen't get me off for some reason (I like curvier cars), but the whole package of the car, the speed, the music, and the surroundings was beautiful.
