I bought an Equus to help diagnose my check engine light problem. Works great! Without one you have to take the car to the dealer or indy and they need to keep it for a day. Other option is to go to Autozone. Having your own puts you back in control. You can read the problem, reset the light (if it's not too serious) and see if it repeats. Then if you need to, you can take it to the repair place on your own schedule. For $130 I thought it paid for itself by preventing one or two visits where the shop just resets the CEL then says to drive it some more and see if it comes back, or guesses at what might be wrong and replaces something that doesn't need replaced.
