UPS and FedEx are my BEST buds... If you are looking at a NEW Saab, this would not apply...but if a slightly used one, say a C900...
As Tomg says, find a independant local mechanic who is not scared of learning about new cars he has not worked on before. I go to a shop where the guy is the owner, mechanic, and the janitor..lol He does AWESOME work, and only charges $30 an hour (underpaid by far considering the work he does) Now, he can usually find parts (plus $ markup) or I can take him parts (no warrenty through him on parts)
For the most part, I do ALL my own work. The only thing ever done not by me is a waterpump on the 900 right at finals (nooo time, needed to drive 1100 miles home in 2 days) and install of lowering springs (i was scared of this one;-)
If you have the parts hookup, the info (Saabnet), some time, and confidence I say go for it!
(Regardless, get auto insurance with full towing coverage. Most say, "To the closest dealer")
