I use their Alpin in a 215/55 R16 size on my 2003 9-3 SS with sport suspension.
Not much snow yet (it's coming this afternoon), but in the little bit that we had these turned out to be the best winter traction I have ever had (23 years of driving Saabs on Hakka's, Yokahamas, Bilzzaks and Pirelli W160).
The downside is that even though I had them dynamically balanced, there is a bit of vibration coming up the steering column. The superb tire shop I go to commented that they were impossible to balance. It's a reminder not to drive too fast since these are rethreads and don't have a speed rating on them. I'm a bit uncomfortable with that as tires are not something to play chicken with. But I don't find reports of thread separations anywhere with these tires.
The rethread goes all the way to the rim bead so maybe it is more stable than a typical rethread. I have been able to determine that all 4 carcasses were Michelin MXV3s, so at least they all have the same properties, something you are not always guaranteed with a retread.
II'll see how it goes this winter and report back after I get some more miles. So far I have about 1300 km, mostly highway and the carbide granules are well exposed now.
