Sentronic is...... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] (#81) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mike Lynch) on Mon, 1 Dec 2003 11:42:44 In Reply to: Do new Saab have CVT or SMG II a la BMW (-), Jon906, Mon, 1 Dec 2003 11:09:28 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Sequential manual control of the 5-speed conventional automatic standard in all automatic Saabs.
9-3's get the +/- shifter gate for all and thumb paddles on the steering wheel only in the Aero in addition to the +/- gate. I've seen steering wheel paddles installed on Linears.
9-5's all get paddles on the back of the steering wheel that work with your fingers. There's no ability to shift from the shifter like a 9-3, only to select steering wheel paddle operation.
Saab Sentronic 5-speed automatics are conventional automatics as opposed to CVT, continuously variable "Van Doon" style automatics or SMG, sequential manual gearboxes. The new technology of CVT's scare me a little. The complications of SMG's frighten me to death.
