The stock summer tires on Aero are obviously useless in snow; nor are even the MXV4's that good on regular 9-5/9-3's. However, there are all-season tires that do fine in light snow conditions. Boston area, in the city, like Cambridge and Somerville, doesn't get much snow accumulation. Snow tires will burn out rather quickly on dry asphalt, even in winter. I never used snow tires when I was living in Cambridge, and I was driving a BMW 5 series RWD with no traction or stability control; replacing stock Michellen MXV4 with BFGoodrich Touring T/A was all that was required, cost $50-60 per tire back then.
