Loved it,saw it as a kid in the early 70's.Later,taped it off the movie channel.I lived in Oz years ago(Amurrrcun).By present day standards it may seem a bit dated and the symbolism a little trite, but it works.I've seen few other movies that convey a place and time so uniquely and so well.It seemed too stark to be pretentious, maybe artsy.Jenny Agutter has now given up acting and is doing U.K. based charity work. The boy(who's all boy) was the director's son.
