I had the same problem as you, but the cause of my problem was not the same cause as is documented in the technical service bulletin.
My dealer asked me to hold the open roof button and then as the roof folded up he asked me to stop midway through the folding up process. I got out and he showed me that as the roof folded together it was rubbing against itself. As soon as the dealer saw that, he ordered me a new top, even though there were only 2 weeks remaining on my warranty.
Have someone hold your button while you stand next to the car and see if that appears to be the cause of your problem. For what its worth, my spots were also on the passenger side, above and to the the right of the rear window if looked at from behind. Try a search on the 9-3 board instead of the general board. Good luck, and email me back if you have follow-up questions.
