just bought a canon i860. excellent printer. four regular tanks plus designated black tank for text. print quality is superb -- makes me wish i had better than a 3mp camera because i feel almost as if the 3mp is bottlenecking output quality. i imagine the i960 would be even better.

i think canons are generally faster than HP (correct me if i'm wrong) and you don't need to get the seperate photo-printing ink tank. umm canon works best with canon photo paper, and i've heard that the pictures tend to fade after a time if not put into an album or placed under glass.

although not a direct comparison of the printers you're looking at, the article below was written about their predecessors. good luck!
