Matrix Rebloated seemed to be pure filler. Of course expectations were high since the Matrix was such a great movie, but man, it was BAD. The Matrix had an excellent plot and revolutionary special effects. Rebloated had a plot that didn't really go anywhere and attempted to live on special effects we'd already seen. I haven't seen Revolutions as I'll wait until I can rent it and watch it at home. YMMV on my opinions of the Matrix trilogy, of course.
LOTR on the other hand has so far vastly exceeded my expectations. I thought the movies would be good, but the first two were the kind of movies where excepting a bursting bladder, I forgot where I was they were so mesmerizing. The battle scenes in the Two Towers were just plain awesome and the character of the books has so far been conveyed very well given the translation from such a limitless format as literature to a format like cinema that has some limitations.
I can't wait to see Return of the King.
