electronics inside of the DI. Vibration, heat (heat is really an enemy of electronics) all take their toll. I wish the @#$%! things weren't encapsulated because I would have replaced some of the components which are more prone to failure with higher quality MIL-spec components. I suspect that the black units are more prone to failure because they're painted black. Black absorbs heat more readily than a lighter color. I was hoping to experiment someday with temperature measuring equipment to see the difference color would make... including no paint (aluminum). I have tried to reomve the encapsulation with various chemicals (acetone, MEK (MethylEthylKeytone), thinner,) and nothing works. On my third DI ('96 9000 CSE 250,000+ miles)
