Never adopted because..
the Saab ones spray at a higher pressure. This lets cleaner hit the windshield at speed. The US-style ones just mist over everywhere. If on the highway, very little hits the windshield. They stink. The ONLY good ones were GM's own "wet arm" system, where the jet was on the wiper arm. And even that is pushing it.
