It is not possible to give an estimate without any other information. About ten years ago I heard somebody said about $100/sf for a new custom home. That includes above average plumbing fixtures, all the expensive finishes such as ceramic tiles in the bathroom, appliances in the kitchen, etc. You are only expanding a family room, so you are not buying any new fixtures besides lighting.
I mentioned the number I heard was about ten years ago. Nowadays there are many good developers who can built track houses (multiple/semi custom) for about $30/sf using standard fixtures/appliances.
Both numbers are without the cost of land, and are extreme examples, for residential wood construction in California. You can work with a construction cost estimator once you have the plan, and if necessary, do a value engineering to match your budget.
Good luck.
