My friend had a '01 Ram 2500 with a 5.9L Cummins. He has a full Banks Power setup giving it around 700 for torque. That trucks has got to have a lot more than that. For speed its all gearing; the power is there but most diesel's redline before 4000 rpm.
I have a '86 Toyota Land Cruiser Diesel (4.0L I-6 w/ 5-speed manual). These were only sold in Canada and overseas. I actually just picked mine up. Diesel's are great, it will get 25+mpg easily.
