Have you been to Costa Rica? I've been there twice, and both times had a rental Daihatsu Terios. It's kinda like a Rav4, but skinnier. It had pretty good ground clearance, and uncomfortable suspension. Unless you're on the Pan-Am highway, you're in for a rough ride even in an SUV. I've seen small Nissans and Toyotas on roads there, but I have no idea how they last. The roads will beat a car up in no time. The road to Monteverde is almost impassible even in an SUV. It's hell on a car, your kidneys, and your bladder.
My SPG can barely take speed bumps in the bay area, and your 900S rides an inch or 2 higher. Even that is pretty low clearance. If you can make it all the way down AND get the car back in one piece, then hats off to you!
Have fun and Pura Vida!!!!
