Many heads offer input cables that allow 2.5MM to standard AV input for less than Apple would charge. The mWat output of the iPod is good (compared), but there is better (i.e. Archos- admitted issues here).

In my experience- no differance running MP3s (196) via a palyer thru the head. The limtis are there- especially comapred to a factory CD. But A solid system that can avoid road noise should be fine for "most."

The simple answer - you don't need an Alpine and iPod to make your MP3 30GB dream happen.

Surf for your head an what you want to achieve.
