You don't say how old your car is, but the price of cars has increased significantly over the years. If your car is worth 10k or more, a lot of body work can be done before totaling it. Your rates would only go down in relationship to how inexpensive it is to total it. In theory, it costs as much to fix a five year old car as a brand new car. When the value of the car is low enough to equate to an average accident, the actuaries will lower the collision premiums. The flip side is having a nice, reliable, older car that the company says is only worth 2k, and they want to total it. It's worth far more to you, but you have to argue with them to prove it's value.
Just some random thoughts, I'd also advise shopping your coverage around every so often. Erik
