What others have said is right, the introduction of the router/firewall has effectively hidden your computer from the Internet. You have an internal network that you probably see as 192.168.x.x, but the outside world will see your router as whatever IP address your ISP has assigned. And it is vulnerable to attack, so put a strong password (ie mix in some non-alphanumerics) on the router config page. Here's where a personal firewall can help: you can still get all kinds of spyware programs and backdoors that can get put on your machine from email attachments or just browsing a web page that happens to have a malicious ActiveX control. The firewall such as Norton can alert you when you have one of these that tries to establish a connection OUT from your computer. The router will allow that!
I used to work for Norton, I work for Zone Labs now. Use that personal firewall!
Cheers,
Chuck
