This board is all about sharing knowledge and saving money for people that love Saabs. My idea is in the same spirit. Can we can set-up a 'Ride board'? We used to have something like this in college, where the board would match students with cars with students without cars, so that they can car pool together during vacations and breaks. Usually, they would split gas costs. With growing number of Saab enthusiasts buying and selling cars across the country, may be we can work together to save money on shipping costs.
I, for one, am offering such a service. Scott, let me know if this isn't appropriate for this board.
I don't know how many people buy car from the North and drive it South, but here it is...
This Friday, (3/12/04) I am driving from Michigan to Montgomery, Alabama (rental car one way). I am picking up a car from Alabama and will be driving it back.
Here is the offer. If someone has a vehicle they need delivery, I am willing to drive it down from Michigan area(as long as your car is road trip worthy and you are not too far out of the way.). Also, I would need a ride to Birmingham, where I am picking up my vehicle. I am not asking for any compensation, as I would save money on rental car and that would be enough for me.
I am a very responsible driver and have a VERY clean driving (no tickets in 8 years, no accident since 1987 when I was 17 except I was rear ended last year standing still with other traffic in a construction zone(still grieving my SPG).
Something like this... BTW, this trip is real and my offer is real.
