the cars would be totally unaffordable.
I'd think that they'd quickly make Saab more upscale and have it compete with high-end Bimmers, Audis, and Mercs. They'd be fast, handle great and be luxurious, but I bet starting price would be $50K.
Porsche has never been able to make cars that average people can afford to buy and own. It's just not the way they think or how their business model works. Witness the 914, 916, 924 and even 944. All were originally meant to be a "poor man's Porsche" but all went away, while the high-end cars kept going. There are other reasons for these cars not succeeding, but IMHO much of it was due to the way Porsche does business. There's nothing wrong with what they do, but it doesn't fit cars for a broader market.
