I suspect that it's low R22 level. When the installer was out a couple of days ago to do something about the icing, he removed some of the refrigerant and now it's icing faster than before. My experience with other A/C is that low charge was a cause of evaporator icing.
It's an old house (by ATL standards), but all the ducts are brand new. Checking the filter is on my to-do list for when I get home - that may well be a contributor as we've been doing drywall work. When it's not icing, it blows stronger than our old A/C did.
