It works SUPER on certain things. Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] (#112) [Profile/Gallery] (more from SWEDECAR) on Tue, 27 Apr 2004 21:13:55 In Reply to: Fluxless Brazing Rod?, gorper, Tue, 27 Apr 2004 19:50:00 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I can't tell if it works on any aluminum product out there but I have tried it on a couple of different pieces with good result.
One was the aluminum pipe from turbo to intercooler on a pre 94 900. The upper radiator hose clamp had eaten a hole in the pipe and I stitch the hole with that rod and a propane torch.
The other thing was a carb for a jet ski where the threads was stripped out. I filled the hole, redrilled and tapped with M6 and it holds up good.
I still want to have the area as clean as possible though, so I wouldn't try to weld on an oily surface or the like just beacuse I don't want to do it again if it doesn't work.
Trying to repair a cracked oil pan on a car (while still on the car) would be the ultimate test I guess.
