It's used to exemplify the Beauty of All-Wheel Drive! :p
Seriously, Subaru has just begun transforming it's ratty dealerships around Metro Boston. (A pretty important market for Subaru...). I think the involvement of the Late, Great Ernie Boch hadn't helped Subaru in New England a lot. About 10 years ago, I test drove the then new Legacy, which at $20,000 was their most expensive car at the time... the sales office was some sort of a Mobile Home, on a gravel lot. I think the advertizing, the 'cool factor', the AWD, and the fact that they are pretty well priced, pretty decent cars that offer a realistic alternative to Honda and Toyota is what sells them. Also, they pretty much sell what they can make - you don't hear much about Subaru Year End Clearance Sales, because they don't usually have one. Until they have more production capacity, their sales probably won't be held back by their dealers.
