Hey, I have a '97 Aero 5sp. I'm trying to sell it for too much to an employee. I don't think they'll know the difference, unless they frequent this board. I'm asking $15,000...but its probablly worth $12,500-$13,000.
JUST KIDDING! I would wait a while. If he can get $15,000 for it, then more power too him. My dad always said, "Cars are worth what somebody else is willing to pay for them." and "It only takes one buyer."
The seller might find out that he can't get $15,000 for it and offer it to you for less.
Also, it's a sketchy proposition buying a car from someone you know and deal with daily. Could you walk into work tomorrow after a head gasket or turbo dumped and not have hard feelings? Just imagine the worst (and realize that a car with a known history is the best used car to buy...and that that other Aero for a few $K less is a far less-known quantity).
Good luck. I have a '93 Aero w/ 50K miles on it. Quite the car...faster than spit, and I get 31mpg. But I picked it up for $7500. (Yes I've had to do a couple things to it, Head gasket, heater core, blower motor)
I must admit that the CPO 9-5 is a great option too.
Are you actually looking to buy car? Or, is this car's availabilty making it a purchase of conveinence?
