Hi All,
I'd like to adapt an extra garage door opener remote to function via operation of a highbeam flick. I've seen it done on the web, usually on motorcycles. I'd like to add this to our 88 900T convertible, as the remote is located on the visor and easy to steal...and I think it would be kind of neat as well.
I opened up the spare remote I have and have no problems bypassing the push button, so the remote operates only when power is applied (I sodered a piece of wire on the switch terminals making it act as if the button is always depressed).
I noticed the battery in the remote is only 3Volts. If I tap into the highbeams to give juice to the remote, will this fry the remote (12V vs 3V)? Is there a way to step down the power simply?
I'm open to any other suggestions...only requirement is NO extra buttons to push anywhere, must be just the flicker of the highbeams ;-)
Thanks!
