My brothers '97 900 SEt has been trouble free.
Saabs are very reliable cars if you are the type to make sure that fluids get changed regularly, and you are really good about preventive maintenance. I know many Saabs with about or more than 200K on the clock (including my parents' '92 9000) with no reliability issues...many on original engine/tranny/etc.
I have a '93 9000 Aero w/ low miles. Learned to drive on an '83 900S, and my family has accounted for about half a dozen Saabs being loved.
Parts availability is getting better and better... partly due to the accessibility of parts through the internet, including many Saabnet sponsors.
Saabs are great cars. If you want a mode of transportation, there are cheaper cars, but if you want a car with character and a really fun car that has an amazing blend of sportiness, practicality, utility, luxury, and great gas mileage...Saabs are hard to beat. (especially at +/- $6000)
$6500 sounds a little high for one with more than 100K on it, but a well-documented history and a reputable Saab dealer is worth more than a few bucks. Try to get the price down.
Also, remember who you're asking when you ask "Should I buy a Saab" on "the Saab Net"
