This forum is as knowledgeable as any I know to turn to for advise: I recently received an email entitled "Congratulations !". When I opened it
it informed me: Dear Sir/Madam: You are the winner of 500,000 USD in a
lottery entered for you by one of the sites you visited on the internet.
It gave batch #'s and the winning #'s. I followed instructions in my reply
siting a ref# and Batch # in the orig. msg.
This brought up the home page of a "Lottery Payment Bank" with street address in the Netherlands. At this site I was given the option of opening
a free account. Once the account was open I was to deposit $1500 before I
would be given a pin# and the winning money would be depositied in the acct
from the donor bank. At this time I would be able to transfer the money from that account to any bank of my choice in the USA.
I have contacted my state attorney general, the help at Yahoo, where the orig. email came from with no reply from either.
If this is a scam, and it looks to be from being asked for money first,
but it is the most sophisticated I have seen, and I've seen several. It even gave an international phone # to call, which I did twice and talked to
the same individual who spoke English with an Italian or Spanish accent.
He called me 3 times on his nickel, saying he was there to "help" me with
my newfound riches.

I am not naive, but only poor, and the thought of becoming suddenly rich is
the most powerful motivation I have ever had.
Does anyone know if there is anyplace on the internet where one could check
out a lottery in Europe? Like a Euro Better Business Bureau.?

I need help! Thank You.
