Business wise I see this a good move Posted by Ian Glenday [Email] (#95) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ian Glenday) on Fri, 18 Jun 2004 14:35:27 In Reply to: No big surprise - Saab saw the early version of this..., Scott Paterson [Profile/Gallery] , Fri, 18 Jun 2004 09:25:57 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have often wondered why so many common parts exist in so many versions, e.g., alternators, DICs, batteries, lamp assemblies, etc.. This applies across brands as well. Shopping for a battery, keep it simple and only have three types for 12 volt cars. How many different brake rotors do you really need to stopp a 2 ton car? And add brake pads to this. The list goes on and on. This does not apply to the other design aspects of the car. They should be unique. I certainly would not complain if GM had DICs or ACCs that were used across the board in their cars and worked 100% of the time.
