Maytag Neptune washer update. $2.00 in parts. Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] (#112) [Profile/Gallery] (more from SWEDECAR) on Sun, 20 Jun 2004 08:11:57 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
So, I did some more research on the "net" (beautiful innovation by the way) and found some info about the problem and parts needed to repair it myself.
Link below to the site.
You can also do a Google search for "Maytag R11 resistor"
As for now I tried the repair by replacing the resistor at position R11 and the Triac at position Q6 on the control board.
I used a little bit beefed up resistor, 1W instead of the 1/4W (3.9K Ohm) that was there originally and a 600V Triac instead of the 400V one.
What I don't know yet is, if it's the WAX motor for the door lock switches that burns the resistor.
If you read the repair solution you will find two stories. One blaming a voltage spike that the Triac can't handle and one blaming the WAX motor go to dead short burning the resistor.
I must say that the WAX motor gets awfully hot while in operation so we will see. Maybe I order a new motor and throw it in, they are only $15.00.
So right now I'm out $2.00 in parts, some hours of internet research and a little bit of soldering.
