I wanted to buy a WRX back when I bought my 2001 9-3. My 2 issues with the WRX were that it felt cheap and car insurance was outrageous. Other than that I love(d) the car. A few years pass and now Saab has "re-badged" the WRX and made it its own.

I've seen a few 9-2X's at shows and dealers, and from what I've read and seen it looks a lot more solid of a car then the WRX (more insulation, sound deadening, weight etc.). I also figure since it is a Saab maybe I will get a better price on insurance than a WRX (demographic of 9-2X owner would tend to be older from what I gather). A friend of mine works for Subaru and has a WRX STI (Subaru's US headquarters is 2 towns over from where I live) and the STI is a beast....almost as much of a 500 pound gorilla as the Mitsubishi Evo. My problem with the WRX, WRX STI, and EVO has been their lack of what I will term "sophistication". They remind me of the 60's muscle cars, all power, all go, no luxury. Saab has apparently addressed this with the 9-2X.

Here's the problem. Subaru's 2005 Legacy GT. 0-60 in 5.8 seconds. All wheel drive. Bigger interior than 9-2X and WRX. Leather. Weighs more. 250 HP, 250 lb ft torque. About the same price as a 9-2X aero. My friend has promised me that he will have one for a weekend in the near future so we can take it out and see what it's all about.

I figure I'm a few years away from buying a new car for myself (in the midst of shopping for an Acura TL for my wife) so I'll keep an eye on both of these cars.

Could the Subaru Legacy GT limited become the 9-4X or the 9-6X? lol....
