OT: Writing a CD Image or ISO9669 filesystem? Posted by Bill Homer [Email] (#3427) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bill Homer) on Tue, 24 Aug 2004 09:07:05 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Some of you helped get me started on Linux, and it has been mostly successful with a certain amount of "user intervention" necessary - it has been a learning experience. I've been using RedHat 9.0, which I now hear is not the most user friendly installation, and I have a problem since I've installed a router/wireless network. Live Knoppix solves the connection issue by itself, but I would like to try a different installed distribution.
I successfully downloaded SuSE 9.1 Personal from their website to my Windows XP Home machine. SuSE's instructions state: "Use a burning application of your choice to burn the ISO file to a blank CD-R/CD-RW. Select the option that allows burning a CDROM image and/or a iso9669 filesystem." A bit of research finds that Windows XP does not support use of ISO9669 (would probably be too easy to copy Microsoft CDs?), nor does the CD/DVD copying program that I already have. Any ideas for how to do this on Windows XP? The discs that I have created so far do not work.
